Update: Solidarity note to struggles in Italy
*From the discussion event in Berlin which we participated in, which was based on the ‘The Commune of Europe’ discussion paper, we send our solidarity and support to the movements in Italy currently affected by state repression.
House searches, evictions of families and threats of eviction against the social centres Lambretta and ZAM in Milan serve the purpose of undermining our resistance against projects such as TAV, the European Union’s Youth Guarantee Program, Precarity and the EXPO 2015 in Italy.
Those social struggles are our struggles as well and our borderless resistance is an existing counterpower! Solidarity is our weapon!*
Groups of Beyond Europe (AK Athens and …ums Ganze!) will participate this Saturday at an open discussion in Berlin. The organizations Interventionistische Linke from Germany and Coalition of Social Centers from Italy are presenting their text The Commune of Europe. The text is a proposal for discussion on they way to a “new semester of struggles” and the coming up opening of the new building of the European Central Bank in Frankfurt. We invite all friends and comrades in Berlin to show up!
21 June 2014 – 20h –K.fetisch, Wildenbruchstraße 86, 12045 Berlin
“Europe is taking place. And as such, the European scale has become one of our critical social and political spaces of action”, write the Coalition of Social Centers in Italy and the Interventionist Left in Germany/Austria, outlining the perspective of a “European Commune”. We would like to put the text up for discussion as a point of departure in a discussion about the conditions, challenges and perspectives for a real transnational movement against the Europe of capital and borders. We have invited organisations and coalitions from various countries and currents to comment on the text and sketch with us a vision for a Europe from below.
The transnational mobilisation against the EU summit on youth unemployment on July 11 presents itself as an opportunity, moreover, to bring our struggles together on the street. Turin is not the goal, but rather another initial step of a “Season of Struggles” carried from below, from the constituent social movements of Europe, towards the non-opening of the new ECB tower in the fall and further on towards the Commune of Europe.
